The core team found fundamental flaws in the original version of CryptoNote Proof of Work as it allowed miners, especially influential miner groups, to get more coins. In addition, the complex algorithm (DA) has not been carefully designed to cover the many different cases that have changed since the CryptoNote whitepaper was released.
